Cookies

This site does not use cookies, does not store anything on your device, and does not ask you to consent to either. It is a short page because that is the whole answer.

What that means in practice

That is why you have not been shown a consent banner. Under PECR a banner is required when a site stores or accesses information on your device for anything beyond what you asked for. Plausible stores nothing on your device — no cookie, no local storage, no identifier that survives the page — so there is nothing to ask about, and asking would be theatre. What Plausible records is set out in the privacy policy.

If we ever adopted analytics that needed a cookie, you would get a banner and a real choice. We would rather change the tool than add the banner.

The one exception, when it arrives

The email digest sign-up form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which distinguishes people from bots. It loads only on the page carrying that form, only once the digest opens, and only to check a submission you chose to make. If that ever requires storage on your device, it will be strictly necessary to the thing you asked for, and this page will say so rather than quietly becoming inaccurate.

Server logs are not cookies

Our host, Cloudflare, processes each request in order to serve a page and keeps short-lived operational logs for security and abuse prevention. That is not storage on your device and it is not something we can query per visitor. It is described in the privacy policy.
